Screen Picks | June – July 2012 Edition

Everybody loves a good movie, and I count myself as one of them. Something new that we are implementing on the blog is a bi-monthly pick of what movies we think people should give a shot. Not everyone will like every film we list, but if your looking for something to do on a Friday or Saturday night why not go see a good movie? Following is a short list of what is coming up that is worth seeing in our book.

1. Snow White & the Huntsman (M) Released June 21:

In a twist to the fairy tale, the Huntsman (Hemsworth) ordered to take Snow White (Stewart) into the woods to be killed winds up becoming her protector and mentor in a quest to vanquish the Evil Queen (Theron).

2. The Amazing Spider-Man (M) Released July 4:

The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field).

3. Ted (MA) Released July 5:

A story centred on a man and his teddy bear who comes to life as the result of a childhood wish.

4. The Dark Knight Rises (M) Released July 19:

Eight years after Batman took the fall for Two Face’s crimes, a new terrorist leader, Bane, overwhelms Gotham’s finest, and the Dark Knight resurfaces to protect a city that has branded him an enemy.

5. In Darkness (MA) Released July 26:

In Darkness tells the true story of Leopold Soha, who risks his own life to save a dozen people from certain death. Initially only interested in his own good, the thief and burglar hides Jewish refugees for 14 months in the sewers of the Nazi-occupied town of Lvov (former Poland).
