Essential 10 | Spring/Summer for 2011-12

Australia has almost made it through another winter, and with the new season and the warmer weather comes the need to switch the wardrobe from warmer items to something a bit cooler. It’s also time for some new trends which I will go through soon. Something I have done for the last couple of years is make an essential items list which will have you go through the warmer months staying cool in style. So here we go.

Trend Report:

For the 2011/12 season we will see some new trends including pastel colors, checks, blues, denim, floral prints and nuetral shades. Seen at the spring/summer runway shows these are the looks that you will be seeing in stores.

1. Canvas Boat Shoes

This season wear canvas boat shoes to keep you feet cool in more way than one. The canvas fabrics breath with is perfect for warmer weather, you’ll be able to go sockless with this one.

2. Chinos

Chinos, who can go wrong? The fabric of these will keep the summer heat at bay, they also look good with the previously mentioned boat shoes. A poplular look with these is to roll the cuffs up and show a bit of ankle.

3. Swim Shorts That Fit

Once you get to the age of 18 you really need to throw out the baggy board shorts of your younger years and get a fitted pair. Just remember the shorter the swim shorts the fitter you really need to be.

4. Ray Ban Aviators

Aviators are an essential part of summer. Their stylish and large enough to keep the sun out of your eyes during those long hours on the beach.

5. Tailored Shorts

Tailored shorts just look better than a baggier pair, most cuts stop just above the knee and go with a range of things, my favorite look is with a tailored blazer.

6. Linen Jacket

During the warmer months a regular jacket is just to warm, so designers have made half lined jackets using cooler fabrics like linen or cotton.

7. Polo Shirts

The polo shirt is a classic, grab one and be stylish.

8. Cotton Scarf

For something different wear a cotton scarf with a t-shirt or tucked into a button up shirt and be on trend this season.

9. Gingham Shirt

A gingham shirt made out of cotton is a stylish way to keep cool.

10. Summer Cardigan

Summer nights aren’t always hot, so in a situation like this you’ll want something that’s not too thick but will keep you warm enough.

Bonus – Nautical Striped T-Shirt

Once again nautical themes are back, I picked a t-shirt for this list.

Pick up the items listed and you’ll be sure to be the most stylish man in the room as long you put it together right.

  1. A young boy and his dad went out fishing one fine morning. After a few quiet hours out in the boat, the boy became curious about the world around him. He looked up at his dad and asked “How do fish breath under water?” His dad thought about it for a moment, then replied “I really don’t know, son.” The boy sat quietly from another moment, then asked his father again, “How does our boat float on the water?” Once again his dad replied, “Don’t know, son.” Reflecting his thoughts again, a little while later, the boy asks “Why is the sky blue?” Again, his father answered, “Don’t know, son.” The inquisitive boy, worried he was annoying his father, asks this time “Dad, do you mind that I’m asking you all of these questions?” “Of course not son”, replied his father, “How else are you ever going to learn anything?”
Don’t you think that many posts and even whole web sites are much alike this story?
